In 2014, two women from Bengaluru decided to take a leap of faith and create something the city hadn’t seen before: a foundation dedicated to the holistic development of children. What began as an idea between friends Charitha Kudige and Jaya N has grown into the Sinchana Foundation, a thriving NGO that has touched the lives of more than 865 individuals.
For Charitha, who came from a business family, social work wasn’t the obvious path. But a visit to an orphanage during college shifted her perspective. With a commerce degree from R.V. College and later, certifications in Special Education (Autism & Specific Learning Disabilities), she gained the expertise to turn passion into purpose.
Jaya’s journey was different. After stepping away from her business, she started volunteering at an NGO where she met Charitha. Their shared vision soon became clear: children with autism, ADHD, genetic syndromes, and intellectual challenges needed structured, empathetic, and quality support that many families were struggling to find.
“I see working with these children as an opportunity to be a source of support in their lives, and this work gives me the utmost satisfaction,” says Jaya.
Launched in Bengaluru, Sinchana Foundation provides therapy, education, and counseling for children between the ages of 2 and 20 years. With a dedicated team of 25 professionals and the support of 180 volunteers, the foundation now reaches over 200 children and 500 families.
The core philosophy is simple yet powerful: every child, regardless of ability or background, deserves recognition, treatment, and the chance to live independently.
The foundation’s values quality of work, empathy, non-discrimination, transparency, and openness to new ideas serve as guiding principles.
From therapy and specialized education (₹6,000 per month per child) to teaching materials, parent counseling, and vocational training, Sinchana focuses on equipping children and families with skills for the long run. Parents also receive guidance to handle daily challenges, ensuring the wellbeing of both child and caregiver.
A mother, Megha, shares her story:
“My child had trouble with balance and coordination, making daily activities difficult. After joining Sinchana Foundation, we saw a big improvement. Now, they move more confidently and handle tasks better. The caring therapists have been a great support in this journey.”
Today, Sinchana Foundation isn’t just an NGO it’s a movement. It has already impacted over 865 lives and continues to expand its reach through programs, donations, and community partnerships. With India witnessing a rising need for specialized care, foundations like Sinchana are becoming critical players in the social impact space.
“Our mission is to grow Sinchana into a comprehensive solution for individuals, helping them achieve independence and dignity,” Charitha emphasizes.
As the foundation looks toward the future, the focus remains on scaling programs, strengthening resources, and inviting more community support. Registered under India’s Income Tax Act with 80G tax exemption benefits, Sinchana offers multiple ways for individuals and organizations to contribute whether through sponsoring therapy sessions, donating teaching materials, or funding digital tools.
